Dr. Warner A. Smith - Lead Pastor

Dr. Warner A. Smith

Extension 101

warner@fbc-e.org

Prior to coming to First Baptist Church of Emerson, Warner was a high school chemistry/physics teacher and football coach. His twenty-two year ministry as a Lead Pastor has taken him throughout the Southeastern states, such as Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama and a Master of Divinity degree from Beeson Divinity School of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where he was voted the “Most Distinguished Senior” by the faculty. He has earned his Ph.D. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky by completing his dissertation: “An Analysis of Church Consultation in the North American Church, 1960-2003.”

Warner believes that church should be a safe place for people to ask their questions and discover their true spiritual identity. He did not grow up in church, but came to faith through the persistent effort of a loving and compassionate pastor. He also believes that most people’s life stories are not ready for primetime. He is committed to creating a church community at First Baptist Church of Emerson where people can find a place of safe harbor and direction while they rewrite their personal stories so that ultimately they can hear applause from the only audience that matters for eternity, Jesus Christ.

Warner’s wife, Pam, teaches math at Woodland High School in Cartersville and recently earned her Master’s degree from Kennesaw State University. Together they have two sons, Aaron, a newlywed recently married to the former Mary Tumlin, and Joel, who is also a college student.

Joey was born in Macon, GA and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Engineering Education from Georgia Southern University. Currently Joey is pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree in Worship studies at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary extension in Marietta, GA.

Joey loves to communicate the timeless message of Jesus Christ in a relevant, innovative, and age appropriate means. The Lord has blessed Joey with many ministry opportunities across the United States. One of the most meaningful ministry opportunities, however, occurred one fall in Sydney, Australia when Joey served with the International Mission Board during the 2000 Summer Olympics. He has also served on the staff of various Christian sports camps. He leads worship and speaks at church events as God directs. He is also an avid singer/songwriter. Joey’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, riding his 4-wheeler, and working on his truck.

One of the greatest blessings in Joey’s life is his beautiful wife, Sarah. They met while working together on staff at a Christian sports camp in 2003. They were wed in 2005. Sarah is a wonderful partner in ministry. Together they lift up the name of Jesus Christ and seek God’s design for their relationship.

Rev. Andrew Wilson

Extension 103

andrew@fbc-e.org

Andrew is from North Georgia. He has a certificate in Christian Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Kennesaw State University.

Prior to joining the family at First Baptist Church of Emerson, Andrew served at Cartersville First Baptist Church. Andrew worked eleven years in telecommunications before God led him to make ministry his vocation.

Andrew loves the one and true God with all his heart, soul, and mind. He has always claimed Deuteronomy 6:4-7 as a life verse. He wraps himself in God’s love and embraces the truth of a risen Savior in hopes that through his ministry God will be glorified and the church will be edified. Andrew is thrilled with being able to work with helping families.

Andrew’s wife, Haley, is an incredible compliment to his ministry. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University and teaches fourth grade at Cartersville Elementary School. They have two beautiful children, Annaston, who is two years old and full of life, and Sawyer, who is one and tries to hide from his big sister, and a third child on the way.
